old backups of excluded files?

What happens to backup copies when I exclude files later? I could exclude by
removing from folder tree
placing in the file exclusion list
placing in the folder exclusion list
Note that I am
not
talking about deleting the file from disk, just about the CBB configuration.
It might be
removed from backups on next run
not updated but left for potential restore
left in the backup but not available for restore
Thanks,
Edward

In that case the files will be left on storage and will be available for restoration.
