What I saying in the post is that the customer has ESXI 5.0 and if something happened to server, since the client has no media (ESXI 5.0) and a spare server...in case of disaster the customer could buy a fresh server install newer trial version of ESXI let's say 6.5, restore the backups on the new hypervisor server and that would be all. Where is the backward compatibility needed?
In addition to this question, if restore is not possible on the hypervisor, would it be possible to restore to cloud?. (Backup is done locally to a nas)
The explanatory help mentions other credentials. My credentials do not work. As I can see you have enter your details in monitoring and not in backup. I cannot find these settings you provided in screenshot.
I saw it yesterday, I currently trying it in one of my servers but I cannot see it in mbs. Trying to configure backup but I cannot understand the way to configure emails as displayed in optitune.
Or if you have 30 customers with 5 plans each one of them and all of them wants to do at night...and you do all the backup plans..somewhere, somehow would do the mistake.
This is 2 backup plans. What if you have 500 backup plans with most of them having more less the same requirements e.g. running at night. Should CBB check if there are overlappings and throw a warning to end user to fix this in order to avoid 2 backups taking same data backup but in different destinations? That could be as an feature request in order to avoid database problems in near future.
P.S numbers are just examples.
I am able to login via http and upload manually files to folder. But using CBB although that the plan works ok nothing is uploaded. I have not used SSL at all. I have tried in W2012 Server and W7 with the same results.
Although I have started this post...by writing this and processinf this idea into my mind I figure out that this what I am asking we have it already in Managed Backup Service. Well it would be nice to be a localized version as well but since we are cloud promoters,,I think we need to adapt to the managed backup using portal. You did not vote though
Since I am doing a local backup every day there is not a requirement to have all these databases in cloud. Thus one copy of these per week it is enough for my plan. Sorry if I misleaded in my beginning post.
It is a custom database. What I did is this:http://prntscr.com/ilwj2s and this http://prntscr.com/ilwjfg expecting that if run the backup on monday night would take the 5 databases only and if runs for 4 weeks I would have a month's database in cloud.
So James I suppose you did image based backup and tried to recover it in Azure as a VM ending with a black screen is that right? My last experience with that kind of black screen was when I converted a VMWare image to Hyper-V one. The image when I put in Hyper-V ended up with black screen and a cursor blink. What I did is to boot this VM, aasign a CD image and repair the boot record and worked fine. I suppose that this is not exactly your case but you might consider this kind of workaround if feasible.
Unless that the server is an Active Directory one and has problem boot up with other IP address ... I have done image backup and restore to Azure member servers as a VM succesfully and I cannot see any problem and why others are better.
Using CBB products is more than fantastic experience. Last week I did restore a whole erp-crm customers machine (taken as an Hyper-V backup to azure) to my premises because my customer was undretaken an audit process and he was needed urgently to approve to the auditors that what is taken backup can be restored. The best part was that the VM was restored off-site succesfully. Who else other than CBB product does these magic things?
I am using MBS 2 years now. This is not what I mean by posting this poll. What I mean is for example to have one CBB central UI locally installed in a company and from this UI to be able to manage backups from other n-Server's
So I can have multiple agent installations without UI? And then manage their backup plans from portal? How about to have one UI installation in an company and 20 agents more installed and from one UI to manage all 20 agents inside the company from their local administrator as well as Portal? Please explain if you have something in mind.
